About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Simulation and Training Solutions group in Sterling, VA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the development, modification, integration, and testing of aircraft and ground vehicle training simulators for military and commercial applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and lead design efforts for advanced complexity mechanical hardware, including mentoring junior engineers.
  • Lead hardware engineering requirements capture, analysis, and creation for complex components of mechanical designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical design is appropriate for the project/product design approach.
  • Drive design and team decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities.
  • Report and manage status relating to technical performance, cost, and schedule for assigned scope of work.
Requirements
  • Experience with technical design documentation, including mechanical assemblies, fabrication drawings, parts lists, weldments, and installation drawings.
  • Experience with traditional sheet metal fabrication, machined parts, and weldments is a must.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks Software Computer Aided Design (CAD) and proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, part, and assembly drawings.
  • Proficient utilizing MS Office Applications / Office 365.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AutoCAD Software is a preferred.
  • Training Simulator Engineering design experience is desired.
