Job Objective:
Become an integral part of our community by enforcing essential animal regulations and ordinances. Engage in thorough investigations of reported infractions and take proactive steps to safeguard the welfare of animals within our jurisdiction. Your responsibilities will include issuing citations and warnings to offenders, making a significant impact on both animal welfare and community standards. Essential Functions:
As an Animal Control Specialist, your primary duty will be to uphold animal laws and regulations, investigate suspected violations, and issue appropriate citations and warnings to those who infringe upon these laws.

Minimum Qualifications:
Typically, these skills and knowledge are obtained through the completion of high school and at least one year of experience in animal care. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must hold a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License and maintain it throughout employment.
  • Must obtain Arkansas Certification of Training for Animal Euthanasia within six months of employment and keep certification active.
  • Availability to work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Long-Term Disability: The City provides long-term disability insurance at no cost to the employee, covering 60% of salary.

Retirement: Participation in a 401a pension plan with contributions from both the City and the employee.

Vacation: Full-time employees earn vacation leave based on years of service, with a maximum carryover of thirty days.

Sick Leave: Employees accrue twelve sick leave days per year, with a maximum accumulation of 125 days, usable for personal or family health needs.

Funeral Leave: Up to three days of paid leave for immediate family funerals.

Longevity Pay: Employees receive longevity pay based on years of service.
