We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Core Lab team at Loyola University Health System. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of patient care by performing laboratory testing that is utilized in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
Key Responsibilities- Perform all laboratory testing, including the pre-examination phase, in accordance with standard operating procedures and accreditation guidelines to support the delivery of patient care.
- Conduct and document established quality control procedures on analytical tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products; evaluate the results of quality control testing and implement corrective action according to established protocols to ensure the accuracy and quality of patient testing.
- Participate in the validation of laboratory methods and procedures to meet the changing healthcare needs of our patients.
- Recognize and document problems that may adversely affect test performance or the reporting of test results. Identify, implement, and document appropriate corrective action or notify the technical specialist, shift supervisor, or manager.
- Perform routine maintenance functions to ensure the proper operation of the laboratory equipment.
- Bachelor's Degree/Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science Program
- High complexity testing experience
- High volume clinical lab experience
- Blood Bank experience or recent MLS education
- Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or AMT) or equivalent
