Job Summary

Loyola University Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Lab Scientist to join our team. As a Medical Lab Scientist, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of patient care by performing laboratory testing that is utilized in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all laboratory testing, including the pre-examination phase in accordance with standard operating procedures and accreditation guidelines to support the delivery of patient care.
  • Conduct and document established quality control procedures on analytical tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products; evaluate the results of quality control testing and implement corrective action according to established protocols to ensure the accuracy and quality of patient testing.
  • Participate in the validation of laboratory methods and procedures to meet the changing health care needs of our patients.
  • Recognize and document problems that may adversely affect test performance or the reporting of test results. Identify, implement, and document appropriate corrective action or notify the technical specialist, shift supervisor, or manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) or equivalent.
  • Laboratory certification required (ASCP or HEW).
