Role Summary:
The Educational Aide will provide support to the lead educator in various classroom functions to cultivate an atmosphere that promotes autonomy, self-assurance, innovation, and mutual respect. Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to: preparing essential instructional materials, managing classroom resources, monitoring and enhancing children's communication skills, assisting in lesson design, delivering instruction, observing and recording academic, linguistic, and behavioral progress, and contributing to report documentation.
This role is hourly and non-exempt, requiring commitment for 196 days within the academic year, with work hours scheduled from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech is a specialized institution dedicated to teaching listening and spoken language to children with hearing impairments. Candidates should possess experience in early childhood education and will benefit from small class sizes while collaborating with seasoned educators. Opportunities for professional growth are available throughout the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the educator with lesson preparation and setup of necessary equipment.
- Prepare instructional materials required for lesson execution (including manipulatives, worksheets, art supplies, etc.).
- Document children's academic and developmental progress.
- Encourage appropriate social interactions among children during snack, lunch, and recess periods.
- Actively participate as a member of the support team working with individual students, including the classroom teacher, speech-language pathologist, and other relevant specialists.
- Supervise children during outdoor playtime.
- Perform light cleaning and organizational tasks to maintain a tidy classroom environment.
- Assist with student behavior management as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional development sessions.
- Support Clarke's mission and contribute to special events and development initiatives.
- Assist in preparing documentation for periodic accreditation processes as required.
- Compile classroom supply orders at the beginning of the academic year.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Capacity to move swiftly in emergency situations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children aged 2-7 is essential.
- Training in child development through college coursework or childcare certification programs.
- Knowledge or training in instructing children who are deaf or hard of hearing in listening and speaking skills.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Compassionate, positive, and supportive demeanor.
