- Financial Guidance: Assist patients and their families with financial services, ensuring they understand the process and are comfortable with the payment process.
- Financial Data Management: Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information efficiently and accurately.
- Authorization and Verification: Contact primary care or admitting physicians to obtain authorizations, diagnosis, and procedure details as necessary.
- Insurance Benefits Explanation: Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
- Financial Document Management: Document authorization and benefit information in registration systems and assemble patient records.
- Financial Knowledge and Compliance: Demonstrate a basic knowledge of third-party reimbursement requirements and regulations, and exhibit competency in the use of registration systems and electronic verification tools.
- Financial Collections: Follow Patient Financial Services self-pay policies, including completion of guarantor financial statement applications, explanation of payment options, and collection of monies due.
- Financial Reporting: Maintain departmental logs for statistical reporting and consistently meet Quality Assurance standards set by Patient Access and the department.
- Education: High school or equivalent.
- Training: Must complete Patient Financial Services Orientation program and annual educational requirements.
- Experience: Two years' experience in a financial, business office, or customer service environment required.
- Skills: Proficient in Windows Microsoft Office-based products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), typing proficiency, and one year PC/Windows experience.
