Position Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant will undertake various tasks, including managing criminal cases, conducting legal research, assisting attorneys with substantive legal tasks, drafting legal documents, preparing correspondence, tracking case deadlines, and aiding the City Prosecutor's Office with trial preparations and case resolutions.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Performing paralegal duties under general supervision, assisting attorneys in case preparation.
- Reviewing case facts, researching case law, consulting with attorneys, and drafting legal documents.
- Coordinating client interviews, monitoring case progress, and preparing trial materials.
- Assisting attorneys during court hearings and trials.
- Completing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree with relevant training in paralegal studies or an Associate's degree in paralegal studies combined with at least two years of experience in a legal environment performing substantive legal work. Alternatively, four years of experience in the legal field performing advanced legal tasks may be considered.
Preferably, candidates should have two years of experience in criminal prosecution within a law office.
Licensing and Certification:
Must possess an Arizona driver's license and a current Paralegal Certification (CP/CLA) or obtain it within six months of employment.

- Experience with legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment:
- Work is conducted in a standard office setting.

Successful candidates will undergo a post-offer, pre-employment background check, including drug screening and criminal background verification.
