Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Lab Support Technician II to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our laboratory department, you will be responsible for performing standard laboratory tasks, including phlebotomy and waived testing, as well as various low-complexity testing and general clerical duties.

Responsibilities
  • Perform loading and unloading of lab specimens from automated and non-automated instrumentation
  • Assist in problem requisitions/specimens and orient new hires
  • Collect, label, process, and preserve blood, urine, and other specimens according to established laboratory procedures
  • Enter, access, and execute lab orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record system
  • Clean and maintain laboratory supplies and work area
  • Update statistical records, labels tubes, and schedules processing runs
  • Perform moderate complexity testing, phlebotomy, and waived testing
  • Identify patients using two identifiers
  • Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties, including admission activities, insurance verification, order entry processing, and medical record processing
Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • One year experience in a laboratory setting
