The Brooklyn Kindergarten Society is a leader in providing high-quality early childhood education to working families. As an Early Childhood Education Specialist - Study Plan, you will play a crucial role in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and ensuring quality education for our youngest learners.

Job Summary

This is a full-time position responsible for planning and implementing daily lesson plans, providing positive guidance for children, and leading small group and center activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with low-income populations and diverse cultures, as well as a strong understanding of early childhood education principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and Program Implementation (50%)
  1. Understand the Goals and Objectives of the Curriculum
  2. Plan well-designed lessons that are aligned with the current units of study and culturally relevant pedagogy.
  3. Implement units of study and lesson plans in a thoughtful and intentional manner.
  4. Identify goals for children and what staff and parents can do to help children achieve these goals.
  5. Identify classroom materials needed to support the implementation of the curriculum towards achieving goals.
  • Program Implementation (25%)
  1. Provide positive guidance for children.
  2. Implement daily lesson plans.
  3. Lead various small group and center activities.
  4. Delegate various academic and classroom-based responsibilities to assistant teacher and teacher aides.
  5. Understand individual student goals and connect those goals to academic activities.
  6. Work with small groups of children to reinforce lessons, providing one-on-one instruction to students and supervising students in the classroom.
  7. Create a warm and welcoming environment that includes a print-rich, and culturally responsive culture.
  • Additional Educational and Non-Educational Duties (35%)
  1. Assessment System (15%)
    1. Complete and maintain observations and other running records.
    2. Navigate Teaching Strategies GOLD online (assessment system).
  2. Supervision (10%)
    1. Provide consistent supervision that takes into account developmentally appropriate activities and health needs of the group and individual child.
  3. Relationship Building (5%)
    1. Foster relationships with key stakeholders e.g., other teachers, family workers/social workers, parents and guardians for the purposes of school readiness.
  4. Promoting Professional Growth (5%)
    1. Assume responsibility for professional performance and self-reflection.

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
