Job Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Early Childhood Education Specialist in Brooklyn. In this role, you will assist the Head Teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, work with a team to provide a stimulating environment and activities, encourage parent involvement, set individual goals and record anecdotal observations for each child, keep the room clean, help with toileting, and perform various classroom duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival
- Communicate directly with supervisor
- Readily accept and respond to supervisory inputs accordingly

- Develop plans based on goals from observations/curriculum
- Provide developmentally appropriate activities
- Plans are carried out in the classroom
- Lessons plans support all areas of development and reflect children's interests
- Turn in lesson plans and children's observations in a timely fashion
- Create an inviting learning environment
- Hold parents conferences on schedule
- Take an active role in encouraging parent participation
- Maintain confidentiality
- Make every effort toward positive parent relationships
- Be tactful with negative information
- Listen and respond well to parents
- Be available and approachable with parents
- Greet parents and children in a positive manner as they enter the classroom
- Do not speak about the child in front of him/her
- Ability to make appropriate written documentation and referrals when needed
- Help develop language by responding to sounds infants make or words children say sings talks throughout the day and interacts verbally during routines such as diaper changing, hand washing, etc.
- Ability to set appropriate limits

- Puts infants to sleep according to their individual schedules and takes care of infants upon awakening; every effort to prevent SIDS is made
- Feeds children according to their individual needs, family input, and CACFP guidelines
- Inspect fire exits and extinguishers regularly
- File incident or accident reports accordingly and as needed
- Notify parents and director when children are sick or get hurt
- Use bleach solutions to clean toys and surfaces as required
- Use the Germ Box effectively
- Follow the diaper changing/potty procedures for children accordingly and as needed
- Follow the When to Wash Hands policies as posted in the classroom
- Follow the hand-washing procedures accordingly
- Inspect outdoor and indoor play areas prior to play
