Role Overview:

The Bartender is a dynamic, motivated individual with excellent communication skills and a strong dedication to hospitality, food, and beverage service. This role requires close collaboration with management, servers, and barbacks to ensure outstanding customer service for all patrons. The Bartender will embody and promote the mission of 4EG, which focuses on enhancing neighborhoods through enjoyable guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and guests.
  • Execute proper wine, liquor, and beer pouring techniques.
  • Create craft cocktails while demonstrating the preparation steps for each drink.
  • Maintain knowledge of various wine and beer styles, particularly craft selections.
  • Utilize appropriate glassware for different beverages.
  • Verify guest identification as required.
  • Develop comprehensive product knowledge, including beer, wine, liquors, specialty cocktails, and food offerings.
  • Stay informed about menu changes, daily specials, and events through pre-shift briefings and management communications.
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards as outlined in company policies.
  • Deliver fast, accurate service while ensuring guest satisfaction and product consistency.
  • Collaborate with management to achieve service goals.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and ongoing training sessions.
  • Complete all opening and closing duties efficiently to ensure the bar is ready for service.
  • Recognize signs of intoxication and manage customer interactions appropriately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Demonstrated responsibility and professionalism during shifts.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Capability to prepare garnishes and handle fruit.

Technical Skills:

Familiarity with POS systems is preferred.

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; some college education is preferred. Candidates should have two or more years of experience in a high-volume bartending role and maintain any necessary alcohol knowledge certifications as mandated by the company and local regulations.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs. Candidates must be able to navigate all areas of the bar and restaurant, including behind the bar and storage areas, and be willing to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
