Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced financial leader to join our team as an Associate Director, Basic Science Departments and Centers. This role will oversee the financial planning and analysis for basic science departments and centers at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
    • Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts for basic science departments and centers.
    • Consolidate financial information from various sources to provide a comprehensive view of departmental and institute activity.
    • Analyze financial trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Portfolio Management
    • Assign portfolios to analysts to cultivate relationships between FP&A and departments.
    • Facilitate regular meetings between analysts and basic science departments and institutes to foster two-way communication and promote advocacy for departments within JHM and JHU.
  • Team Management
    • Directly manage a team of Sr. Financial Analysts.
    • Act as a liaison between Directors of Finance or finance managers for basic science departments and institutes and provide guidance and feedback about job performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Engage with various stakeholders including Department Directors, Administrators, Budget teams, Financial Operations colleagues, and others.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible financial and business operations experience, preferably in a large and complex organization.
  • Proven communication, organizational, and analytic skills in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership, planning, change management, and process improvement skills.
  • Strong supervisory abilities and proven experience in managing and developing high-performance teams.
  • Ability to analyze data for budgeting, operations, auditing, accounts receivable, and reserve analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in research financial management and academic business operations.
