Job Summary

The Network/System Engineer is a critical role that involves designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing local and wide area networks to ensure maximum uptime for network services in the organization. This position requires a strong understanding of networking systems, including SD-WAN, firewalls, routers, and SSL-VPN, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information to other IT team members and outside departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement functional company networks in collaboration with Server and Application Development Teams
  • Establish and maintain the digital communication infrastructure, including WAN, wireless, and LAN networks
  • Procure network equipment and manage subcontractors involved with network installation
  • Install and configure a wide variety of enterprise networking hardware, including Cisco and/or AB Stratix Industrial Switches
  • Implement and maintain telephone system for multi-office enterprise
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records
  • Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports
  • Deal with escalated network support issues
  • Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience working through the design, implementation, and management of a wide area network
  • Strong understanding of networking systems, including SD-WAN, firewalls, routers, and SSL-VPN
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information to other IT team members and outside departments
  • Cisco CCNA certification preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required.

Travel Requirements

Less than 50% travel required for mandatory meetings or training.
