Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care at Jennie Stuart Medical Center. As a key member of our anesthesia team, you will administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical and obstetrical procedures.
Responsibilities- Evaluate, formulate, and carry out an anesthesia care plan, including monitoring and recording patient reaction to anesthesia and modifying the anesthetic plan accordingly.
- Transport patients to and from an anesthetizing location and ensure appropriate care during the postoperative period.
- Supervise, instruct, and provide feedback to student nurse anesthetists to ensure patient safety.
- Perform pre-anesthetic preparation and patient evaluation, including obtaining informed consent for anesthesia.
- Select and/or administer pre-anesthetic medications and anesthetic agents or other agents administered in management of anesthetic care.
- Provide anesthesia induction, maintenance, emergence, and post-anesthesia care, including inserting invasive line catheters/devices and performing tracheal intubation and extubation.
- Manage patient's fluid, blood, electrolyte, and acid-base balance, and provide perianesthetic invasive and non-invasive monitoring.
- Respond to abnormal findings with corrective action and recognize and treat cardiac dysrhythmias through use of perianesthetic electrocardiogram monitoring.
- Provide post-anesthesia follow-up, report, and evaluation of patient's response to anesthesia and for potential anesthetic complications.
- Certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
- Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
- Current Kentucky RN and APRN license or valid compact state license.
- Graduate of accredited nurse anesthesia program with a minimum of a Master's Degree.
- Two (2) years of anesthesia care in an acute setting experience preferred.
- Provide a positive and professional representation of the organization.
- Promote a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.
- Maintain standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience.
- Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities.
- Maintain compliance with organization's policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards.
- Comply with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information.
