Position Overview:

Audubon of Kansas (AOK) is in search of a dedicated professional who is passionate about fostering environmental conservation. As a vital member of AOK's leadership team, the Chief Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing comprehensive philanthropy initiatives aimed at ensuring ongoing financial support for AOK's mission. This role involves building and nurturing donor relationships through transparent communication and trust.

The Chief Philanthropy Officer will also play a key role in organizing AOK's various events, including community gatherings and donor engagement activities, to enhance connections with both new and existing supporters.

This position is a full-time, remote role requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule. The ideal candidate will demonstrate creativity and innovation while collaborating closely with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees. To effectively convey the organization's impact to donors, it is essential for the individual in this role to develop a thorough understanding of AOK's wildlife management philosophy and its stance on environmental legislative matters.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated integrity, credibility, and alignment with AOK's mission.
  • A degree in any discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to foster donor trust and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking and project management capabilities.
  • Highly organized, dependable, and self-driven with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor management systems.
  • A genuine interest in professional development and staying informed on best practices.
  • Residence in Kansas or nearby areas, with a willingness to travel throughout the state.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in fundraising through various channels, including direct outreach and online campaigns.
  • Familiarity with planned giving strategies, including monetary and land donations.
  • Knowledge of donor recruitment and retention techniques.
  • Experience with event management software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising (40%): Engage in diverse philanthropic activities, including the solicitation and stewardship of individual, foundation, and corporate donors. Design and evaluate fundraising campaigns and special events, ensuring effective donor engagement and communication.
  • Stewardship (20%): Manage donor acknowledgment processes and ensure compliance with donor intentions.
  • Event Coordination (30%): Oversee the logistics and management of key events, ensuring successful execution and participant engagement.
  • Operational Support (5%): Provide strategic advice to the Board regarding campaign organization and execution.
  • Additional Duties (5%): Undertake other responsibilities as needed based on the individual's skills and AOK's requirements.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range of $45,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience.
