Position Summary
This is a full-time, 9-month faculty role within the Nursing Department at Stevenson University, focusing on teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development. The faculty member will engage in a range of responsibilities including student advising, program assessment, and contributing to the academic community. Teaching duties will encompass 24-30 contact hours per academic year, which may include simulation, theoretical instruction, and clinical practice.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Doctorate in nursing or a related discipline, along with a Master's degree in nursing for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher. A Master's degree in nursing is required for the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. Preferred qualifications include recent college-level teaching experience, clinical nursing practice within the last 1-4 years, and a minimum of two years in nursing simulation. CPR certification is mandatory, and CNE or relevant clinical practice certification is preferred. Candidates must be certified or eligible for certification by the Maryland Board of Nursing.

This position requires the ability to perform medium work, including lifting up to 40 pounds occasionally. The role involves physical activities consistent with a dynamic educational environment, including sitting, standing, and moving between various campus locations. The faculty member must be able to communicate effectively for extended periods and may need to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Essential Functions
The faculty member will engage in instructional activities, which include:
- Delivering a total of 24-30 contact hours of instruction per academic year, focusing on simulation, theory, and clinical experiences.
- Collaborating with colleagues to integrate simulation technology into the curriculum.
- Facilitating evidence-based simulation and skills learning experiences.
- Providing guidance and support to clinical supervisors and adjunct faculty involved in simulation education.
The faculty member is expected to engage in scholarly activities that enhance teaching effectiveness and contribute to the academic community, including:
- Conducting research with students that may lead to presentations or publications.
- Participating in departmental and university service, including student recruitment and committee involvement.
