Job Summary:

Under the direction of a pathologist, the Pathology Assistant will assist in all aspects of anatomic pathology. This includes performing dissection and dictating gross description of surgical specimens, obtaining and reviewing pertinent clinical information, and conducting training seminars for pathologists' assistant students.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform dissection and dictate gross description of surgical specimens
  • Obtain and review pertinent clinical information
  • Conduct training seminars for pathologists' assistant students
  • Maintain pathology laboratory and associated facilities
  • Prepare renal biopsy specimens for examination
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on PA student projects

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a Baccalaureate Pathology Assistant program or successful completion of a post-baccalaureate program from an approved school of Pathology Assistants
  • Certification by American Association of Pathology Assistants (AAPA) or American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as a Pathology Assistant
