Do you possess prior experience in a sushi establishment or culinary field? Are you knowledgeable about the techniques and practices involved in sushi creation and service? The responsibilities of the Sushi Chef include preparing authentic Japanese sushi rice, as well as chopping, slicing, and filleting various types of fish. You will also customize orders based on customer preferences and dietary restrictions. While prior experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting various fish types.
  • Assessing the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used in sushi preparation and notifying management of any quality issues.
  • Preparing a variety of sushi dishes according to established standards for quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
  • Maintaining a sanitary work environment to prevent food contamination.
  • Reporting any kitchen equipment issues to the supervising manager.
  • This position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, along with repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Collaborating with wait staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are addressed.
  • Working with hot, cold, and potentially hazardous kitchen equipment, including but not limited to grills, ovens, mixers, food processors, and steam wells.
  • Work hours may vary and can include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and follow recipes accurately.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks, often handling several orders simultaneously.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and proper setup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation to commute to work.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the restaurant industry is required.
  • Strong organizational and thorough cleaning skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, positive professional demeanor, effective communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Maintaining a high energy level to foster a positive culture within the restaurant.
  • Punctuality is essential to set a good example for fellow employees.
