The Sushi Chef's role encompasses the preparation of authentic Japanese sushi rice, as well as the chopping, slicing, and filleting of various fish types. You will also be responsible for tailoring customer orders based on individual preferences and dietary restrictions. While prior experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting various fish types.
  • Assessing the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used in sushi preparation and notifying management of any quality issues.
  • Creating a variety of sushi dishes following established standards for quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
  • Maintaining a hygienic workspace to prevent food contamination.
  • Reporting any kitchen equipment issues to the manager on duty.
  • This position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, along with repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Collaborating with service staff to ensure special requests and food allergy considerations are addressed.
  • Utilizing kitchen equipment typical of a restaurant environment, including but not limited to grills, ovens, mixers, food processors, and steam wells.
  • Work hours may vary and could include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and follow recipes.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, often handling several orders at once.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and proper setup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation to commute to work.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the restaurant industry is required.
  • Strong organizational and thorough cleaning skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership qualities, a positive professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Maintaining a high energy level to foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Punctuality is essential to set a good example for fellow employees.
