Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing professional nursing and clinical care services to clients with HIV/AIDS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care, including physical assessments, education, treatment, and develop and document a plan of care consistent with the clients' level of need.
  • Screen and refer clients to other community services providers as needed, and assist with referrals and follow-up treatment planning as indicated.
  • Provide sexual health promotion and prevention education, including counseling clients and family regarding the importance of medication adherence for viral suppression.
  • Participate in staff meetings and assist with developing and implementing quality improvement projects as needed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, assist with data entry and quality assurance monitoring, such as internal chart audits and grant reporting.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.
  • Or two (2) years of experience at the lower level PH Registered Nurse 2 (HCP191) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) years of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse License and CPR certification.
