About the Role
KUTV, the CBS affiliate in Salt Lake City, is seeking a dedicated full-time Early Morning News Production Leader to enhance our dynamic news team. The ideal candidate will possess strong news judgment, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively to create engaging and informative newscasts. A successful track record in coaching and mentoring is essential, along with a proactive approach to breaking news across digital and broadcast platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee breaking news coverage across all platforms, including digital and broadcast.
- Determine the content and structure of newscasts.
- Write stories with meticulous attention to detail.
- Utilize graphics creatively and effectively.
- Produce content for various platforms, including television, internet, and mobile.
- Collaborate with management and reporters to generate compelling stories.
- Stay informed about current events.
- Meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Coach and develop junior staff, including producers and reporters.
- Participate in the weekend manager on-call rotation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Experience in producing and directing live newscasts.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field.
- Familiarity with iNews and Avid NewsCutter is advantageous but not mandatory.
