Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team. This role will provide vital support to our school nurse, ensuring the health and well-being of our students.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and screen students, treating them if within scope of practice or deferring to the nurse as necessary.
  • Perform and document clinical procedures and student visits, maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of work, examination, and treatment areas, adhering to standard precautions and infection control protocols.
  • Stock supplies, notifying the relevant authorities if stock levels become low.
  • Assist special education IAs with students when required, promoting inclusive learning environments.
  • Support administrative duties in the health office, including answering telephones, taking messages, filing, and performing other tasks as needed.
  • Enter data into the computer system, recording immunizations, physical exams, hearing and vision screenings, heights and weights, student visits, and other relevant information.
  • Recognize limitations and seek guidance from other clinical staff members.
  • Administer medications that have been delegated, following established protocols and competencies.
  • Prioritize ongoing professional development, acquiring new knowledge and skills to remain current in practice.
  • Comply with Windham School District policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff, both in person and over the phone.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • Holding a license through the State of New Hampshire or certification in a related field.
  • Previous experience in the medical field, school environment, or urgent care.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification, maintained up-to-date.

Benefits

As a valued member of our team, you can expect a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
