Job SummaryWe are seeking a Family Partner I to join our team in Santa Cruz County. The successful candidate will work Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, with flexibility. This role involves providing support and coaching to caregivers, as well as promoting a shared understanding between individuals and groups based on our service philosophy.
Responsibilities- Provide peer support to parents and caregivers, utilizing personal and professional life experience.
- Assist parents and caregivers in understanding the agency and the process, including the Family Partner I role.
- Participate in providing support services for parents/caregivers, such as family events and activities.
- Coach families to make decisions and develop plans based on their needs.
- Collaborate with Child and Family team (CFT) meetings to ensure parent and family members have access, voice, and choice.
- Identify community connections for internal teams.
- Serve as a consultant to ensure shared understanding between family and providers.
- Provide non-judgmental, culturally informed support to parents and caregivers.
- Explore and establish natural support systems for families.
- Model and coach effective coping techniques for parents and caregivers.
- Provide a caregiver's perspective in agency service support structures.
- Assist with the design and implementation of internal and external trainings about the parent perspective.
- Utilize conflict resolution skills.
- Participate in continuous learning and maintain accurate documentation.
- Hold staff accountable to service delivery principles.
- Participate in service improvement and development efforts.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Ability to articulate the experience and perspective of a parent/caregiver or relative of a child with complex needs.
- 3 years as a parent or caregiver of a special needs child.
Some college education is preferred.
LanguageThe primary language for this role is English, but proficiency in another language is highly desirable.
