Job Summary:
The Director of Leadership Giving, Paul College is a key member of the University of New Hampshire Foundation's Development team, responsible for securing leadership-level gifts for Paul College. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication and relationship-building skills to cultivate and steward donors, ultimately driving philanthropic support for the college.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of Paul College constituents capable of making leadership-level gifts, building relationships and increasing philanthropic support.
- Conduct visits with prospects and potential prospects via video conferencing, phone, and/or in-person, with a goal of 150 visits per year.
- Craft meaningful funding proposals to facilitate leadership-level gifts and multi-year commitments that align with donors' and dean/directors' fundraising and/or strategic priorities.
- Solicit gifts of all levels for Paul College, with a focus on leadership-level gifts, from assigned prospects and other donors or potential donors to achieve annual revenue goals.
- Assist the entire Development team with achieving alumni participation goals, overall for the university and for Paul College.
- Facilitate pipeline movement across all laterals of the Development spectrum, working closely with colleagues to successfully transition prospects.
- Qualify new prospects and disqualify prospects for leadership-level giving by conducting a series of steps that deem their affinity and inclination to engage philanthropically at that level.
- Steward prospects and donors through their philanthropic journey with Paul College, with the goal of maximizing their donor potential.
Leadership Giving Program Strategy, Planning, and Coordination:
- Plan and execute leadership-level giving communications and marketing for Paul College in partnership with colleagues across the Leadership and Annual Giving Teams.
- Plan and facilitate leadership-level cultivation and stewardship activities (events, programs, and other touch points) in partnership with Development colleagues.
- Consult with leadership and faculty/staff across Paul College on above tactics, engaging them in strategies when possible and ensuring efforts align with their priorities/vision.
- Partner with the Senior Director of Leadership Giving to determine annual goals for all individual and unit-level metrics.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience or equivalent (sales, business development, account/relationship management, marketing, and/or public relations).
- Bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated understanding of the relevance of philanthropy and Development expertise.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, about fundraising support.
- Exceptionally strong interpersonal skills and experience interacting with internal and external constituents who are diverse in characteristics such as age, education level, race, gender identity and expression, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds in a culturally competent and supportive manner.
- Exceptionally strong organizational skills and ability to juggle and prioritize a multitude of projects/tasks.
- Orientation as a team player and demonstrated strength at partnering with peers, management, and leadership and collaborating across diverse university units and departments.
- Demonstrated understanding of the responsibility to maintain sensitive information and appreciation of ethics and compliance.
- Openness to travel on behalf of UNH for donor/prospect visits or as the university's representative, including local, regional, and domestic trips.
- Exceptionally strong analytical skills and experience working in a metrics-driven environment.
- Proficiency in database technologies and Microsoft Office and technological/data acumen.
- Commitment to the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and advancement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the fundraising profession and its theories, standards, policies, and systems.
- Familiarity with a university setting and fundraising campaigns.
- Experience with portfolio and volunteer management and solicitations.

This is a hybrid position with the expectation that the employee resides within reasonable distance to the Durham, NH campus (under three hours) to be available to come to campus with varying frequency depending on the business needs of the particular position (to be discussed with manager), while working remotely otherwise.
