Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned fundraiser to join our team at the Duke Office of Durham & Community Affairs. As an Associate Director for Development, you will play a key role in identifying and cultivating relationships with potential donors, developing and implementing fundraising campaigns, and managing fundraising operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement annual giving programs to increase support for DCA's unrestricted funds and special initiatives.
  • Solicit and secure gifts from foundations, corporations, and individual donors in support of DCA's strategic priorities and programs.
  • Create case statements and proposals for outreach to donors and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and administration of the Doing Good Employee Giving Campaign, the Duke-Durham Fund, and the Corporate Partnership.
  • Maintain donor records and track gift commitments using SAP and Duke Alumni Development Database (DAAD).
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in major gift fundraising, preferably in an education setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple complex fundraising activities simultaneously and to coordinate solicitation strategies in a decentralized environment.
  • Experience working with volunteers and volunteer groups.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Proactive approach to fundraising.
  • Experience with Duke administrative systems (e.g., R/- SAP and DADD) and Airtable is beneficial.
