The BFS Equipment Maintenance Specialist is responsible for overseeing advanced preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for all BFS machinery and systems. This position entails supervising and guiding team members to ensure equipment readiness through effective line changeovers and mechanical setups in alignment with production schedules. The specialist also provides expert mechanical setups and training to the team.
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Compensation:
- Mechanic - Pay rate $42 per hour for 2nd shift
- Mechanic - Pay rate $42 per hour for 1st shift
- $43.30 per hour for 2nd shift
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary expert on BFS mechanical systems.
- Manage preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on BFS machines to minimize operational downtime.
- Efficiently execute equipment changeovers to facilitate smooth transitions between various BFS products and configurations.
- Ensure proper setup of BFS equipment during startup, including parison, mold, and punch, making necessary adjustments to uphold quality and efficiency.
- Address production challenges by diagnosing and resolving equipment issues to reduce downtime.
- Monitor production workflows to identify and implement enhancements for improved efficiency and product quality.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related documentation, ensuring adherence to maintenance protocols.
- Investigate and resolve technical challenges to identify and eliminate root causes.
- Stay informed on technical requirements and supervise BFS mechanics, offering guidance and training.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance programs, organizational policies, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct monthly preventative maintenance on all BFS machinery.
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs on BFS and processing equipment, including mechanical and control systems.
- Execute scheduled and critical maintenance tasks on BFS equipment, including specialized repairs.
- Oversee BFS line setups and changeovers as necessary.
- Lead and coordinate departmental training initiatives, providing direction to staff.
- Adhere to safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and organizational policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance workspace.
- Support departmental objectives for productivity and efficiency.
- Train BFS operators and mechanics in maintenance techniques and operational excellence.
- Operate in alignment with the organization's core values: Collaboration, Courage, Perseverance, and Passion.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent with technical certifications or relevant vocational training.
- Experience:
- Prior experience as a BFS Mechanic and familiarity with BFS technology is preferred.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing and BFS equipment or systems is preferred.
- At least 3 years of mechanical engineering experience in a regulated food or OTC pharmaceuticals manufacturing environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Flexibility in working hours to meet job demands.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Capability to lift up to 65 pounds.
- Ability to wear respiratory, hearing, and other protective equipment as necessary.
- Must be able to wear cleanroom attire as needed.
- Correctable 20/40 vision.
- Ability to hear for effective communication.
- Physical mobility to walk, bend, stand, crouch, or climb for extended periods.
- Ability to sit or stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
Training:
- The BFS Equipment Maintenance Specialist will receive training on specific SOPs prior to undertaking related tasks.
- Participation in cross-training programs as specified by the Engineering Manager to support manufacturing activities and investigations.
