KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Facilitate instructional activities by presenting subject matter to students under the guidance of teachers, employing methods such as lectures, discussions, or structured role-playing.
- Provide assistance to students with special needs, ensuring that all learners receive the necessary support to succeed.
- Maintain student discipline and accountability, ensuring compliance with classroom and institutional regulations.
- Prepare materials for instructional use and report to assigned duty stations as scheduled.
- Collaborate with teachers in grading assignments, maintaining accurate records, and managing classroom environments.
- Participate in student progress reviews and compile data as required by supervisors.

The Teacher Aide I/II/III series is designed as a career pathway within the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. Employees can advance within this series without competing for open positions, provided they meet the educational and experiential criteria for the next level, along with established performance standards.
LEVELS OF WORK
- Teacher Aide I: Engages in entry-level educational support tasks under moderate supervision.
- Teacher Aide II: Handles moderately complex educational assistance responsibilities with general supervision.
- Teacher Aide III: Undertakes highly complex educational support functions with limited supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification as an Educational Aide from the Texas Education Agency is necessary, or the candidate must obtain this certification within six months of employment.
- Relevant experience in child care or a related field is essential, with specific requirements varying by level of the position.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position may involve physical demands such as lifting, carrying, and restraining students when necessary. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
