Job Overview

Premier Medical Lab is seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist to enhance our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust foundation in laboratory sciences and be well-versed in the methodologies and principles of medical technology. This role demands precision in analyzing and interpreting test outcomes, maintaining laboratory apparatus, and offering technical support to medical personnel. The successful applicant will also ensure adherence to laboratory protocols and uphold quality control standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts routine and specialized laboratory examinations within a specific medical specialty, identifies test discrepancies, and implements necessary corrective measures. Collaborates with laboratory colleagues to resolve similar issues and seeks guidance from supervisory personnel when required.
  • Communicates critical test findings to healthcare providers promptly and in accordance with established protocols. Maintains a log of abnormal results as per guidelines and prepares clear test reports, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Engages in proficiency assessments and can independently document corrective actions while maintaining proficiency testing records.
  • Executes quality control evaluations in designated areas, analyzes quality control data, and takes appropriate actions when results deviate from acceptable ranges. Assists colleagues in troubleshooting similar issues and documents all actions taken.
  • Records all instrument checks, preventive maintenance, and issues encountered, taking corrective actions to resolve instrument or clinical challenges. Collaborates with team members for problem resolution and escalates unresolved issues to supervisory staff.
  • Provides training to laboratory staff in designated areas to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Performs clerical tasks associated with the designated laboratory area.
  • Contributes to the overall functionality of the laboratory and institutional requirements by performing specimen collection and processing duties in accordance with established policies.
  • Operates hematology analyzers and interprets blood smears.
  • Conducts manual urine sediment examinations.
  • Participates in regular departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Engages in the preparation and/or presentation of continuing education programs for laboratory staff.
  • Adheres to laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Determines normal and abnormal components of bodily fluids through chemical analyses of blood, urine, and other specimens.
  • Ensures the proper functioning of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies by monitoring stock levels.
  • Optimizes laboratory resources by utilizing equipment and supplies efficiently to achieve job objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) or a medical laboratory license is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
