Position Overview

Under minimal supervision, the Staff Physician will deliver and oversee direct healthcare services for a designated patient demographic.

The ideal candidate will offer primary diagnostic and consultative expertise in radiology for assessments conducted across various facilities. Responsibilities include the prompt and precise interpretation of radiological images. As a teaching institution, this role will also involve the mentorship and instruction of residents, fellows, and medical students, alongside providing consultation services and engaging in other clinical responsibilities as aligned with the individual's qualifications and credentials.

These roles are being filled due to growth in several subspecialties.

Essential Qualifications for the Staff Physician - Radiologist:

Applicants must be a medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, which may encompass residency in a directly related medical specialty. Candidates must possess a State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in the relevant medical specialty. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required upon selection for hire.

  • MD or equivalent qualification
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • American Board of Radiology (ABR) board certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology by the start date of the contract.
  • State of New Mexico Medical License (or eligibility) by the start date of the contract.

Key Responsibilities of the Staff Physician - Radiologist:

  • Deliver and manage direct patient care, including comprehensive physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population.
  • Prescribe medications and treatment plans as deemed appropriate based on assessed medical conditions.
  • Refer patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as necessary.
  • Educate and supervise medical students and residents involved in specialty practices and procedures, as appropriate.
  • May oversee the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research initiative.
  • Coordinate patient care activities with nursing and support staff as required.
  • Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, along with continuous quality improvement initiatives and safety standards.
  • Participate in designated health promotion, education, and prevention programs as relevant to the position.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
