Overview:

Under the guidance of the Revenue Cycle Registration Supervisor/Manager, the Patient Registration Specialist plays a crucial role in collecting, completing, and verifying patient information during the check-in and registration process. This position involves collaborating with hospital departments to enhance the accuracy of patient data registration and directing suitable patients to the Financial Counseling team for further assistance. Additionally, the specialist ensures that insurance details are accurately recorded in the Revenue Cycle system to facilitate correct billing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Successfully complete training in the policies, procedures, workflows, and applications of the Patient Registration Department, including annual web-based training and foundational medical terminology.

2) Participate in departmental orientation to product lines and demonstrate competency through introductory proficiency testing with a score exceeding 91%.

3) Obtain sign-off from a mentor regarding product line activities.

4) Complete the Compassionate Connections Program.

5) Maintain a minimum 90% quality assurance pass rate in overall account reviews, including MSP and RQA alerts.

6) Uphold a culture of respect by treating all patients, colleagues, and internal partners with dignity. Exhibit integrity by being honest, trustworthy, and dependable in all work-related activities.

7) Focus on service by identifying opportunities that benefit patients and colleagues. Take ownership of personal performance and proactively seek feedback and develop ideas.

8) Welcome patients promptly with a friendly demeanor, demonstrating genuine interest and concern.

9) Ensure patient confidentiality through proper identity verification processes.

10) Communicate effectively with patients to gather comprehensive demographic and payer information, ensuring fiscal reimbursement for the organization.

11) Collaborate with coworkers and clinical partners to address issues and share recommendations for improvements.

12) Greet, register, and guide patients to their designated visit locations.

13) Provide general information and customer service to patients using a solid understanding of organizational policies and procedures.

14) Analyze data from insurance carriers to inform patients about their financial responsibilities for services rendered.

15) Review patient accounts, identify overdue accounts, and collect outstanding patient responsibilities.

16) Request and collect predetermined patient responsibility payments, processing cash and credit card transactions for services.

17) Demonstrate the ability to manage scheduling changes and fulfill departmental daily task assignments.

Required Experience:

1) Experience in customer service.

Preferred Experience:

1) Bilingual skills.

Skills and Competencies:

1) Proficient keyboard skills with the ability to type at least 25 words per minute.

2) Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both verbally and in writing, using correct grammar and vocabulary.

GED or HiSET (Required)
