Overview: The Pipe Assembly Technician is responsible for the layout, assembly, and installation of threaded piping systems and supports on compressor packages. This role encompasses a variety of essential tasks that contribute to the overall functionality and safety of the systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine the appropriate type and size of piping and associated materials, including supports and hangers, based on project specifications.
  • Strategically plan installations to minimize obstructions and ensure seamless collaboration with other team members.
  • Cut and thread pipes as required for assembly.
  • Assemble and install a diverse range of metal pipes, tubes, and fittings, utilizing materials such as iron, steel, copper, and stainless steel.
  • Connect pipes using threaded joints to ensure secure fittings.
  • Affix pipes to structural elements using brackets, clamps, and hangers for stability.
  • Conduct air tests on piping systems, monitoring pressure gauges to identify any potential leaks.
  • Weld pipe supports to structural steel components as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of heat numbers from various pipes and fittings for tracking purposes.
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities within the assembly team, including setup, welding, and assembly tasks.

Supervisory Role: This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Possess an Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or have six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this position include:

  • Regularly standing, using hands for handling or feeling, and reaching with arms.
  • Frequent walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
