Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a highly skilled Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation and dispensing of medications to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists in the preparation of medications for inpatient and outpatient services, including selecting, assembling, and preparing medications for dispensing.
- Enter information into and retrieve information from electronic health records and prescription processing computer systems, ensuring accurate charge and credit functions related to medication orders.
- Prepare and affix labels, stock prescription drugs, and retrieve those drugs from inventory locations, as well as count and pour drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist.
- Stock automated drug dispensing cabinets, floor stock, and crash carts, and transport medications by vehicle to off-site locations.
- Operate technology used for drug dispensing, including robotics.
- Assist in the education and precepting of new pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, and participate in performance improvement activities.
- Perform diagnostic laboratory testing, as defined in state laws and guidelines.
- ExCPT Certification provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required).
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Completion of ASHP/ACPE tech training program, or pharmacy technician training via Armed Forces/Veterans Affairs, or respective state department-approved career tech high school program (preferred).
- Previous experience working in retail, ambulatory, outpatient, hospital, acute care, or home infusion pharmacy (preferred).
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. May have periods of constant interruptions.
