Job Title: Staff MBOP Engineer

The Staff MBOP Engineer is a key member of the Mechanical Balance of Plant (MBOP) group, responsible for the selection and maintenance of mechanical components utilized within a fuel cell powerplant and/or electrolyzer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Correspond with and collaborate with suppliers to enable selection of optimal hardware.
  • Generate component specifications from component-level requirement documents.
  • Work with suppliers to develop custom components when necessary.
  • Generate component-level models and run performance tests.
  • Conduct component-level testing of new or refurbished parts prior to installation into the powerplant.
  • Troubleshoot component noncompliance issues discovered in the factory or in the field.
Requirements:
  • BS degree with 6-10+ years of experience in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree.
  • MS degree with 4-7+ years of experience in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree.
  • PhD degree with 2-4+ years of experience in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree.
  • Strong organizational skills and effective computer skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of technical and business-focused individuals.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Heat exchanger experience.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical hardware such as pumps, valves, and instrumentation.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
