Job Summary

The Testing and Disability Specialist is responsible for supervising accommodated tests for students with disabilities on the health sciences campus. This person will be responsible for coordinating test dates and test times with health sciences faculty and for converting tests into accessible formats if necessary. This person will be responsible for contacting and communicating with faculty regarding testing accommodations for students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administering tests with accommodations to students
  • Scheduling tests and contacting faculty regarding test appointments
  • Receiving tests and converting to alternative format if needed
  • Proctoring tests which includes checking students in and ensuring they do not have access to inappropriate information
  • Completing test proctoring forms
  • Returning tests back to faculty
  • Oversee and/or assist with producing course material/lecture material In alternative formats for students with disabilities; ability to manipulate specialized software.
  • Includes overseeing transcription of notes for students with disabilities and reviewing and forwarding notes to the students in a timely fashion.
  • Reformatting class materials and textbooks.
  • Scanning in and converting documents to text compatible for assistive technology, including but not limited to, screen readers.
  • Familiarity with JAWS, Zoomtext, Kurzweil, Glean, and other emerging assistive technology software a must.
  • Ability to assist with administration of independent study tests, institutional tests and national standardized tests.
  • Be knowledgeable of all procedures and administer all tests as mandated.
  • Ensure that test security and academic standards and integrity are maintained at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned, particularly related to providing assistance for students with disabilities taking classes on the health sciences campus.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of applicable experience.
  • This position will require the acquisition of a P-Card and/or handle cash, credit or other sensitive information and will require a satisfactory Consumer Credit check as a condition of employment.
