Position Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the daily functions of the accounting division. This position guarantees the precision and promptness of financial data and reports while offering leadership and support to the accounting personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and evaluate monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation for the Annual Financial Statement Audit and Bank Collateral Examination, ensuring all documentation and records are precise and readily available.
  • Supervise the daily activities of the accounting division.
  • Coordinate weekly check runs, collaborating with the Accounts Payable Specialist to ensure timely and accurate invoice entries.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable Aging to ensure timely payments and resolution of outstanding balances.
  • Review and reconcile vendor statements against the vendor ledger, addressing any discrepancies with the vendor.
  • Support the Accounts Receivable Specialist in ensuring timely and accurate dispatch of sales invoices.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging to ensure collection of outstanding balances.
  • Review customer balances and payment terms, working closely with sales and customer service teams to resolve overdue customer balances and collections.
  • Manage corporate credit card and expense reimbursement programs.
  • Reconcile daily cash transactions and post auto drafts and recurring bank items to the ERP System.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to protect company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of prior accounting experience, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in manufacturing accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills are essential.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Sage X3) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and contribute to collective goals.
  • Capacity to receive and provide instructions positively.
  • Aptitude for multitasking in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in an environment that handles allergens, including but not limited to wheat, soy, egg, and milk.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
