Job Overview:

As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing indirect commodities. This role involves developing requests for quotations, analyzing supplier proposals, negotiating terms, and implementing supplier agreements for assigned commodities. You will create strategies and tactics to ensure supply continuity, achieve cost reductions, and explore low-cost sourcing options.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and consolidate purchasing needs across all Safran entities in the Americas.
  • Implement and define corporate contracts, guidelines, and policies for indirect purchasing.
  • Conduct market research and validate commodity strategies at various management levels: Global, Country, Regional, and Local.

Sourcing and Supplier Management:

Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers while managing their performance. This includes rightsizing the supply base and maintaining relationships with single or sole source suppliers.


Contract Development and Negotiation:

Negotiate agreements that encompass pricing structures, standard terms and conditions, and procurement best practices. Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contract terms.


Program Management:

Oversee key cost-saving initiatives, which may involve supplier transitions, relocations to cost-effective regions, negotiations, and design modifications. Ensure that savings align with budgetary expectations and report on outcomes.


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Establish procedures and contract models that align with market standards for each commodity group.
  • Propose enhancements to tools and processes to elevate purchasing maturity within the organization.
  • Collaborate with senior management and group teams to ensure purchasing strategies align with overall business objectives.

Performance Indicators:
  • Achieved savings targets.
  • Implementation rate of corporate contracts.
  • Percentage of global volume covered by contracts.
  • Feedback on internal customer satisfaction.
  • Compliance with internal controls.
  • Successful development and execution of commodity strategies.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS).
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in purchasing contract negotiation and strategic sourcing.
  • Experience managing transportation and logistics commodities is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project Management experience.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, such as SAP.
  • Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is a plus.
  • Technical or engineering background is beneficial.
  • Experience in managing indirect commodities.

Essential Skills:
  • Strong understanding of procurement and supply chain principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent customer orientation and communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical abilities.
