Job Summary

The Chief Nurse of Ambulatory Care position is a key leadership role within the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. This role is responsible for overseeing the ambulatory care services, ensuring high-quality patient care, and leading a team of nursing professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership and direct supervision to nursing staff in ambulatory care settings
  • Assess and evaluate processes and daily operations of outpatient clinics
  • Oversight of professional practice competency and standards of professionalism for nursing staff
  • Responsible for assessing and recommending the allocation of human and material resources
  • Ensures competency assessment is completed on each nursing employee annually
Requirements
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) and 4 years of professional nursing experience, one of which is specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse III
  • Leadership experience in outpatient settings, with a focus on ambulatory care
