Job Summary:

Berry Global is seeking a skilled and experienced Flexographic Printing Press Operator to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for the safe operation and leadership of a printing press and the crew assigned to it.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a Safe Working Environment: Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while ensuring all team members work within the safety guidelines as established by Berry.
  • Complete Safety Training: Complete safety orientation and forklift certification training.
  • Product Knowledge: Demonstrate an understanding of our product, customer specifications, and visual inspection requirements.
  • Data Collection: Collect and document specific data.
  • Mathematical Skills: Demonstrate basic math skills, both metric and standard.
  • Color Measurement: Ability to use color measuring instruments for monitoring color (Gretag).
  • Ink Viscosity: Measure and monitor ink viscosities and its effect on color.
  • Color Theory: Basic color theory and control in multi-color printing.
  • Problem-Solving: Apply measurement and data to identify root causes and solve problems.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate and interact professionally with all people in the work environment.
  • Confidentiality: Understand the importance of and respect and maintain the confidentiality of the company and customer.
  • Teamwork: Utilize teamwork in order to fulfill job requirements and process improvement.
  • Computer Skills: Apply general computer skills (i.e., Shop Floor, Quality Windows, etc.).
  • Training: Effectively train new team members.
  • Press Operation: Understand the components and functions of the basic flexographic printing press, including but not limited to the Unwind, Infeed, Drying, Outfeed, Rewind, Register, Impression setting, Port-a-lift, and Inking systems.
  • Makeready Procedures: Apply general makeready procedures for flexographic printing.
  • Job Discrete Routing Sheets: Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret Job Discrete Routing Sheets and how to identify raw materials by part numbers.
  • Troubleshooting: Recognize, identify, and communicate problems in specific terms (troubleshooting).
  • Shift Transfer: Effectively transfer information between shifts.
  • MSDS Sheets: Understand and interpret MSDS sheets.
  • SOC Sheets: Understand SOC sheets and how to properly fill out.
  • Housekeeping: Demonstrate good housekeeping and organizational skills.
  • Solvent and Ink Handling: Ensure proper solvent and ink handling procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Hazardous Waste Handling: Ensure proper hazardous waste handling procedures are implemented and followed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: Three to five years manufacturing experience operating a flexographic printing press required.
