Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mobile Donor Service Technician to join our team at the Blood Bank of Alaska, Inc. This role involves performing screening and phlebotomy procedures at mobile blood drives or at our location, ensuring a safe and professional donation environment for our donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register potential blood donors using our electronic system.
  • Review Donor History Forms for completeness and evaluate donors' medical history for suitability as a blood donor.
  • Take vital signs and perform finger sticks for hematocrit.
  • Conduct confidential interviews with donors and instruct them on the Interview Response Section of the Donor History Form.
  • Ensure donors have read and understood pre- and post-donation instructions.
  • Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly quality control procedures according to standard operating procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Restock supply items necessary for donor screening and phlebotomy procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of donors and personnel information.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a certification program in phlebotomy or a related field.
  • No prior experience required, but prior experience in a blood bank or medical setting is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
