About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our FS/QA team as a Food Safety Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting routine sanitation checks to ensure compliance with HACCP and USDA regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine sanitation checks to ensure compliance with HACCP and USDA regulations
  • Identify and control potential food safety hazards occurring from pathological conditions in live hogs, heads, carcasses, and viscera
  • Monitor and communicate with helpers to ensure correct tagging and marking of carcasses and swine pathology
  • Clearly and effectively communicate with USDA officials and Plant Management on technical issues and complete/verify necessary inspection documentation
  • Work with other departments to implement procedure changes to remedy non-compliance issues
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; 4+ years of experience with the company may waive educational requirements
  • 2+ years' experience in a related field, such as harvest processing, USDA inspection, or FSQA, preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to follow written/verbal directions and apply corrective action when deviations are identified
Work Environment

The work environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive tasks, and stand for prolonged periods.
