SALARY:
Grade 1: $16.36 per hour
Grade 2: $16.69 per hour
JOB HOURS: 30 hours per week
JOB SUMMARY: The Teacher Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the Master Teacher and Teacher Assistant by facilitating age-appropriate activities for a group of 18 preschool children. Responsibilities include assisting during mealtimes and engaging in classroom preparation and cleanup. The Teacher Aide is instrumental in ensuring the safety of the children and contributes to the daily operations of the classroom.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Position Grade 1: High School/GED diploma with a commitment to obtain a preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education within two years of employment.
Position Grade 2: An Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a current preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in an early childhood environment is preferred.
SKILLS:
- Understanding of child development and the ability to engage with young children;
- Capacity to observe and document children's behaviors;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding program and agency information;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Competence in maintaining accurate and detailed records;
- Proficient in computer skills;
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team and work alongside all Pre-K staff to deliver quality programming for children and families.
- Ability to approach families with a non-judgmental attitude.
- Physical demands of the role include standing, sitting, walking, bending or kneeling to a child's eye level, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Manual dexterity and visual acuity are required. Auditory and verbal communication skills are essential for interaction with clients, staff, and the public.
OTHER: Preference will be given to qualified internal candidates. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory medical examination and TB test results, as well as fingerprint clearance from the relevant educational department at the time of hire. Employees must sign an affidavit annually confirming they have not been involved in any child abuse or neglect cases within the past year. The organization maintains a Substance-Free workplace and conducts random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
