SALARY:
Grade 1: $16.36 per hour
Grade 2: $16.69 per hour

JOB HOURS: 30 hours per week

JOB LOCATION: CAPC Pre-k Classroom

JOB SUMMARY: The Teacher Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the Master Teacher and Teacher Assistant by facilitating age-appropriate activities for preschool children. Responsibilities include assisting during mealtimes and participating in the preparation and cleanup of the classroom environment. The Teacher Aide is essential in ensuring the safety of the children and aiding in the daily operations of the classroom.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Position Grade 1: High School/GED diploma with a commitment to obtain a preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education within two years of employment.

Position Grade 2: An Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a current preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in an early childhood environment is preferred.

SKILLS:

Understanding of child development and the ability to engage with young children; Capability to observe and document children's behaviors; Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding program and agency information; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to keep accurate and detailed records; Proficient in computer skills; Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team to deliver quality programming for children and families.
Ability to approach families with a non-judgmental attitude. Physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, bending or kneeling to a child's eye level, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Manual dexterity and visual acuity are necessary. Auditory and verbal communication skills are essential for interaction with clients, staff, and the public.

OTHER: Preference will be given to qualified internal candidates. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory medical examination and TB test, as well as fingerprint clearance from the NYS Education Department upon hiring. Employees must sign an affidavit annually confirming they have not been involved in any child abuse or neglect cases in the past year. CAPC maintains a Substance-Free workplace and conducts random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
