Position:
3D Modeler - KBRKBR is in search of an experienced 3D Modeler with 8-15 years of expertise in crafting 3D models specifically for Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) simulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong history of designing and refining 3D models of military vehicles, equipment, and various assets intended for Department of Defense (DoD) simulations. This position demands proficiency in producing realistic and high-fidelity models that significantly enhance the accuracy and immersion of simulation environments. This is a full-time on-site role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop high-quality 3D models of military vehicles, equipment, and other assets for integration into DoD simulations. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure all models reflect accuracy and realism. Optimize models for real-time simulations, taking into account poly count, texture size, rigging, and overall performance.
- Employ industry-standard 3D modeling software and tools to create detailed, precise, and optimized assets that fulfill simulation requirements. Work alongside simulation developers and engineers to ensure smooth integration of 3D models into existing simulation frameworks. Conduct quality assurance and testing of 3D models to verify they meet performance, accuracy, and visual fidelity standards. Create and manage textures, materials, and animations for 3D models to enhance realism and functionality within simulations.
- Engage closely with subject matter experts to accurately depict military vehicles and equipment, incorporating real-world specifications and details. Maintain and organize 3D model assets and documentation, ensuring they are easily accessible and updatable for future projects. Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in 3D modeling, simulation technologies, and military equipment to continuously enhance modeling practices. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for 3D model-related issues during development and integration phases.
Required Qualifications:
Clearance & Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Game Design, Simulation Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience: 8-15 years of experience in 3D modeling, with a significant focus on military vehicles, equipment, and assets for LVC simulations.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, or similar tools.
- Experience with simulation platforms and tools, including the integration of 3D models into DoD simulation environments.
- Strong understanding of real-world military vehicles and equipment specifications and the ability to translate these into accurate 3D models.
- Expertise in texturing, material creation, and animation to enhance 3D models.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are advantageous.
- Experience with military simulation standards and frameworks (e.g., HLA, DIS).
- Familiarity with additional tools and technologies related to real-time simulation and visualization.
- Knowledge of procedural modeling techniques and optimization for performance in simulation environments.
- Background in scripting or programming related to 3D modeling and simulation.
