Army Communications Security Specialist

As a Radio and Communications Security Repairer in the Army National Guard, you will play a vital role in maintaining the security of Army communications. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that Army units can communicate over secure channels, free from the risk of interception or unauthorized access.
Responsibilities will include installing and repairing circuits and wiring, calibrating and aligning equipment components, and stringing overhead cables between utility poles. Additional duties will involve repairing systems, performing equipment tests, and conducting preventive maintenance checks and services on equipment.
Advanced Radio and Communications Security Repairers will take on more complex projects, including training and supervising other Soldiers, testing equipment, performing intricate repairs, and ensuring the use of National Security Agency-approved components in communication security repairs.
Key skills you will develop include:
- Communication security policy and procedure
- Use of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment, as well as interactive electronic technical manuals
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience that can be applied to a civilian career in radio repair, radio mechanics, teletype repair, or station installation.
Instead of paying to learn these valuable skills, you will get paid to train in the Army National Guard. You will learn fundamental Soldiering skills through 10 weeks of Basic Training and then attend Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for 16 weeks of classroom instruction, including hands-on practice with equipment.

To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- Be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- Meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)
Estimated salary: $200-$250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
