Coding Denials Specialist Lead

Join the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) team as a Coding Denials Specialist Lead, where you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of Coding Denials Specialists in daily operations, monitoring work queues, and providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize avoidable denials and adjustments, analyzing trends and making recommendations for process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the prior authorization team to obtain retro-authorizations and resolve authorization denials.
  • Research and resolve coding and billing issues, ensuring compliance with payer policies and MCW/CPS guidelines.
  • Write and submit professionally written appeals, tracking outcomes and making adjustments as needed.
Requirements:
  • Seven (7) years of experience in a healthcare setting, with a focus on coding and/or reimbursement follow-up.
  • Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CCS-P, CPC, CCA) and/or Health Information Management credential (RHIT or RHIA).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
