Job Summary:

Clinical Documentation Expert sought by the Medical College of Wisconsin to join our team in the Clinical Practice Services department. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance on documentation, coding, and billing practices. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring accurate and compliant coding practices, which will directly impact our reimbursement and revenue cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert knowledge of multispecialty coding, including surgical, inpatient, emergency, and ambulatory coding
  • Assignment or verification of CPT, ICD-10 CM coding and modifiers based upon documentation
  • Guide and direct specific employees in their day-to-day job functions
  • Answer questions and resolve coding and billing issues
  • Identify, report, and resolve coding and reimbursement issues with physicians, department administrators, and other billing office staff
  • Resolve edits for electronic charges, following established policies and procedures
  • Provide out-of-office coding coverage to multi-specialty areas

Requirements:

  • 5 years of related experience in a multi-specialty physician practice plan, coding multiple medical/surgical specialties/subspecialties
  • Coding certification (CPC, CPC-A, CCS-P, or CCA) and/or health information management credential (RHIT or RHIA)
