About the Opportunity

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Fuel Specialist to join our Fuels team. This is a key role that requires expertise in fuel procurement, logistics, and supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Generation Commercial Operations to determine fuel requirements and develop procurement strategies.
  • Issue requests for fuel supply proposals and negotiate contracts with vendors.
  • Monitor vendor performance on fuel quality and supply, ensuring consistent delivery and adherence to contractual agreements.
  • Assist in the determination of annual, quarterly, and monthly tonnage nominations, and work with suppliers to ensure accurate forecasting.
  • Provide data and insights to support the annual Expanded Net Energy Cost (ENEC) process for rate adjustment in West Virginia.
  • Develop and maintain coal position data, presenting reports during weekly and monthly meetings.
  • Monitor coal markets for price and production trends, and provide recommendations to inform procurement decisions.
  • Collaborate with the legal department to draft and negotiate fuel purchase contracts.
  • Provide back-up coverage for Harrison natural gas nomination process, and submit bi-monthly coal and reagent inventory data for PJM review.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or a related technical field.
  • Extensive knowledge of the coal industry, coal forecasted pricing, and delivery logistics.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
