Key Responsibilities- Assist registered nurses in providing clinical support functions to promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, as per established guidelines.
- Monitor patient vital signs and blood glucose levels, and perform other patient monitoring activities as required.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Perform patient rounds regularly and respond promptly to patient call lights.
- Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient room environment.
- Collect and label specimens as per established procedures.
- Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; nursing assistant certification preferred.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
- Enrollment in a nursing, pre-med, or physician assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations, or possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment in a nursing assistant, medical assistant, mental health technician, or EMT-accredited program.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic skills in math and computer science.
- Ability to perform, modify, and record physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.
This role requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment with frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and other hazardous materials. The successful candidate must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
