Job Title: Patient Care Technician II

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Technician II to join our team at MUSC Health & Medical University of SC. As a Patient Care Technician II, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including vital signs, medication administration, and wound care.
  • Assist with patient transfers, ambulation, and positioning.
  • Participate in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment, including infection control and waste management.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to achieve patient-centered care and desired outcomes.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • One year of patient care work experience in a healthcare facility, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic certification, or Bachelor's Degree or enrollment in a healthcare-related program with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course at an accredited institution or equivalent training preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 2 weeks of hire and must be maintained thereafter.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Ability to climb stairs, work indoors, and work outside in temperature extremes.
  • Ability to work in confined/cramped spaces and perform job functions from kneeling positions.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted and exert up to 50 lbs. of force.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment.
