As an employee-owned firm, SWCA is dedicated to environmental planning, resource management, and regulatory compliance, aiming to protect natural and cultural resources while facilitating beneficial projects.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will oversee and conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments, lead public and agency engagement efforts, and ensure quality assurance throughout the development of Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs). More experienced candidates will take on additional responsibilities in business development and lead complex, multidisciplinary projects.

Specific duties include:

  • Directing the preparation of EAs and EISs for a variety of projects, including updates to federal resource management plans and land use strategies.
  • Supporting growth objectives across various business lines, such as land use planning, energy generation, and water resource management.
  • Providing technical oversight for NEPA documentation and processes, including project planning and public engagement.
  • Exhibiting strong leadership and professionalism in project and team management.
  • Offering expertise to project managers on intricate NEPA projects.
  • Contributing to business development initiatives and proposal submissions.
  • Mentoring junior staff in NEPA analysis and documentation.

In this role, you will be expected to manage projects and client relationships effectively, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines. Senior employees will lead intricate projects and guide project managers, while principal-level staff will provide strategic leadership across business units.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in NEPA project management and environmental analysis, with the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least eight years of experience in NEPA documentation and environmental consulting.
  • Proven management experience on complex projects, including client and agency interactions.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in managing schedules and budgets.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including NEPA and related acts.
  • Established relationships with federal regulatory agencies are highly desirable.
  • Experience with public lands and various project types in the western United States.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Ten years of NEPA documentation experience.
  • Recognition as a capable NEPA project manager.
  • Experience in business development with federal agencies and renewable energy projects.
